Live Art Installation At Independents' Day Festival '17

Will You Paint Our Vans?

Columbus’ Independents’ Day Festival celebrated their 10th and final year in September 2017. A festival dedicated to supporting local artists, is known for the best art installations and the craziest performances on stage. For ID Fest 2017, we were tasked with having an art installation that was unique and at the same time easy to set up and tear down. Thanks to some construction fencing and the creation of the work van, we made it happen.

Working With Local Artists

The Matchbox Ltd #MatchboxMobile van was originally painted for promoting 2x2Fest earlier in the year. We planned on collaborating with a new artist every few months to keep the paint job on the van fresh and to provide another moving canvas to keep the city interesting. When the opportunity for Independents’ Day Festival popped up, we joined forces with Blockfort Studios and used our vans as large pieces of canvas. With the super talented Monster Steve, Justin “Ketchup” Withrow, and a few other artists, the vans and canvas drop cloths came to life over the course of the weekend.
